About Philae Temple
Philae Temple is one of Egypt’s most enchanting archaeological sites, beautifully located on Agilkia Island near Aswan. Dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis, the temple complex is famous for its elegant columns, detailed reliefs, and romantic island setting.
Originally built on Philae Island, the entire complex was carefully relocated stone by stone to Agilkia during the UNESCO rescue campaign, saving it from flooding after the construction of the Aswan High Dam — a remarkable feat of modern preservation.
Visitors reach the temple by boat, adding to the magical experience. Inside, you’ll discover sacred halls, ceremonial courtyards, and carvings that tell stories of ancient rituals and divine legends. By night, the Sound and Light Show brings the site to life with dramatic illumination and storytelling.
Philae Temple offers a perfect blend of history, beauty, and atmosphere — making it one of Aswan’s most unforgettable highlights.
