About Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is one of Egypt’s most legendary archaeological sites, located on the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor. This sacred desert valley served as the royal burial ground for New Kingdom pharaohs, including some of ancient Egypt’s most powerful rulers.
Hidden beneath rugged limestone cliffs are more than 60 richly decorated tombs, carved deep into the rock and painted with vivid scenes from ancient religious texts. These artworks were designed to guide kings safely into the afterlife, making each tomb a masterpiece of symbolism and craftsmanship.
Visitors can explore several open tombs, walk through atmospheric corridors, and admire colorful ceilings and hieroglyphs that remain remarkably preserved. Surrounded by dramatic desert scenery, the Valley of the Kings offers a powerful and unforgettable journey into Egypt’s royal past.
