About Valley of the Queens
The Valley of the Queens is a serene burial ground on Luxor’s West Bank, created as the final resting place for royal wives, princesses, and nobles of the New Kingdom. Nestled among quiet limestone hills, the valley offers a more intimate and peaceful experience compared to the nearby Valley of the Kings.
More than 70 tombs are carved into the desert cliffs, many decorated with vibrant wall paintings depicting goddesses, afterlife journeys, and royal symbolism. The most famous tomb belongs to Queen Nefertari, renowned for its exceptionally preserved colors and artistic detail.
Walking through the Valley of the Queens feels deeply atmospheric — a place where ancient art, sacred beliefs, and desert silence come together, offering visitors a gentle yet powerful glimpse into royal life beyond the throne.
